Qualcomm’s Explosive Combination Coming in the First Half of the Year

The bombshell combination from Qualcomm is about to make its debut very soon. Yes, it’s none other than the Snapdragon 7+ Gen3 and Snapdragon 8S Gen3, which have been frequently exposed before and are closely related to the Snapdragon 8 Gen3.

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen3 features a CPU architecture of 1*Cortex-X4 2.9GHz+4*Cortex-A720 2.6GHz+3*Cortex-A520 1.9GHz and a GPU of Adreno 732.

On the other hand, the Snapdragon 8S Gen3 comes with a CPU architecture of 1*3.01GHz X4+4*2.61GHz A720+3*1.84GHz A520 and a GPU of Adreno 735.

Both new chips are based on TSMC’s 4nm process technology and inherit the architecture of the elder sibling, Snapdragon 8 Gen3, sharing the development codename “Cliffs” within Qualcomm, essentially representing different frequency versions of the same chip.

As the release date approaches, some models using Snapdragon 7+ Gen3 and Snapdragon 8S Gen3 are starting to emerge.

The commercial models using Snapdragon 7+ Gen2 are only the Redmi Note12 Turbo and the Realme GT Neo5 SE.

There will be more models using Snapdragon 7+ Gen3, as it is reported that the OnePlus Ace 3V will be the global debut for Snapdragon 7+ Gen3, along with Redmi Note13 Turbo and Realme GT Neo6, and more.

Being the “younger sibling” of Snapdragon 8 Gen3, Snapdragon 8S Gen3 is expected to have a big impact. Smartphone manufacturers that have already procured Snapdragon 8S Gen3 include Xiaomi, Redmi, Realme, OPPO, Vivo, and Honor, which means that major smartphone manufacturers will adopt it.

The Xiaomi Civi 4 will globally debut with Snapdragon 8S Gen3, followed by Realme GT Neo6 Pro and upcoming models from iQOO. Redmi, OPPO, Vivo, and Honor’s Snapdragon 8S Gen3 models will be introduced later.

In terms of pricing, according to digital influencers, Realme GT Neo6 series will have the most aggressive pricing, starting from under 2000, posing a challenge to other models.

The Realme GT Neo5, powered by the Snapdragon 8+ chip, is priced starting from 2499 yuan, while the Realme GT Neo5 SE, equipped with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen2 chip, starts at 1999 yuan. The Redmi Note12 Turbo, cheaper than the Realme GT Neo5 SE, starts at 1699 yuan.

With Qualcomm’s bombshell approaching, Snapdragon 7+ Gen3 and Snapdragon 8S Gen3 are about to enter the scene, with related models now exposed.

After the comprehensive rise of MediaTek, Qualcomm has been suppressed in the SoC chip market over the past few years. With the absence of a major customer like Huawei this year, Qualcomm’s situation has become even more challenging.

To capture the mid-to-low-end market, Snapdragon 7+ Gen3 and Snapdragon 8S Gen3 are set to arrive soon, with the former starting from just over 1000 and the latter around 2000, offering good value for money and worth considering.
