IT Home reported on May 26th that Samsung will launch two phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, at the end of July this year. The source, Revegnus, stated in a recent tweet that Samsung has reduced the prices of these two phones by 100,000 Korean won (approximately 533 yuan RMB) compared to the previous generation.
The report stated that the main reason for Samsung to lower the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is that the cost of the application processor (AP) has dropped by 20%, and the proportion of AP in the entire phone cost ranges from 10% to 20%.
The average price of a high-end smartphone AP is around $80, while the cost of the AP used in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is $140.
IT Home reviewed related news and found that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 256GB model is priced at 1998700 Korean won (approximately 10,653 yuan RMB) and the 512GB model is priced at 2097700 Korean won (approximately 11,181 yuan RMB). If the price is reduced by 100,000 Korean won, the starting price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be 1898700 Korean won (approximately 10,120 yuan RMB).
