Snapdragon 8S Gen3 debuts in March: The Power-Efficient Edition!

Qualcomm to Launch Snapdragon 7+ Gen3 and Snapdragon 8S Gen3 in March

Fast Technology reported on February 23 that the popular tech blogger, Digital Chat Station, revealed Qualcomm’s plan to release the Snapdragon 7+ Gen3 (code-named SM7675) and Snapdragon 8S Gen3 (code-named SM8635) in March, with related devices scheduled to debut.

The Snapdragon 8S Gen3 is closely related to the Snapdragon 8 Gen3. Its CPU is composed of 1×3.01GHz X4 + 4×2.61GHz A720 + 3×1.84GHz A520, along with an Adreno 735 GPU.

Compared to the 3.3GHz CPU frequency of the Snapdragon 8 Gen3, the CPU frequency of the Snapdragon 8S Gen3 has been slightly reduced, theoretically resulting in better power efficiency.

Moreover, the Snapdragon 8S Gen3 features one less performance core (A720) compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 but includes an additional power-efficient core (A520).

Furthermore, the Snapdragon 8S Gen3 is built on the TSMC 4nm process, positioning its overall performance between the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen3.

Given its positioning, the price of Snapdragon 8S Gen3 smartphones is expected to be above 3000 RMB, belonging to the flagship category.

It’s worth noting that Digital Chat Station revealed that almost all top 5 manufacturers are planning to adopt this chip.
