Outperforms Pura70 for Less

Huawei Pura70 Series: New Flagship Unveiled

The Huawei Pura70 series, which was delayed by a month, has finally made its debut. Overall, the new flagship from Huawei brings some pleasant surprises. The high-end version not only features the Kirin 9010 processor but also supports the transmission of images via the BeiDou satellite system. Moreover, the top-end version is equipped with a striking retractable camera. Upon its release, it has gained significant popularity. However, along with the pleasant surprises, the price of the Huawei Pura70 series has also increased, with the starting price reaching as high as 5499 yuan.

The previous generation of the Huawei P70 series had a starting price of less than 5000 yuan. Therefore, the price increase of the new model is notable. However, this increase presents a favorable situation for competitors. Given Huawei’s flagship’s high popularity, a reduction in price would have impacted the sales of other competing flagships. Thus, the price increase actually benefits the development of other brands, including Huawei’s former sub-brand, Honor. With the launch of the Huawei Pura70 series flagship, sales of the flagship smartphone, Honor Magic6, have seen a significant increase.

Although Honor is no longer officially part of Huawei, it remains one of Huawei’s closest allies. Huawei continues to support Honor behind the scenes. The decision to sell Honor was not only to protect it from restrictions but also to keep it as a last resort. Therefore, many Huawei fans prefer to choose Honor when upgrading their devices. Prior to the release of the new Huawei flagship, many Huawei smartphone fans had considered the Honor Magic6 as an alternative option. Now that the new flagship has been unveiled, many have ultimately chosen it.

The Huawei Pura70 series not only witnessed a price increase but also the entry-level Huawei Pura70 model has some shortcomings. For example, it is equipped with the relatively weaker Kirin 9000s processor and does not support BeiDou satellite messaging system. In comparison, the performance of the Honor Magic6 is superior, and now, this flagship has even reduced in price. The price gap between the two flagships, which was already significant, has been further widened. The 512GB version, in particular, is now 1900 yuan cheaper, making it more suitable for consumers who value performance and cost-effectiveness.

The initial price of this Honor flagship was not low, starting at 4399 yuan. However, its configuration justifies the price, as it features the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8Gen3 flagship processor, a high-quality 120Hz adaptive refresh rate curved screen, and a 10x shatter-resistant giant rhino glass protection. Additionally, the flagship boasts a rear-mounted eagle-eye triple camera system, with primary lenses, and is powered by a 5450mAh second-generation Qinghai Lake battery, complemented by 66W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

The price of this Honor flagship has significantly reduced, with even the 16GB+512GB top version now priced at 4099 yuan, down from 5999 yuan for the 512GB Huawei Pura70, a reduction of 1900 yuan. Moreover, the starting price of the 12GB+256GB version is just 3686 yuan. For fans who value performance and cost-effectiveness, this makes the Honor flagship an attractive choice. Furthermore, as devices from both brands are easily interchangeable and nearly all Huawei ecosystem products are supported by Honor, the transition between the two brands is seamless.
