Xiaomi to Debut Snapdragon 8 Gen4 with Xiaomi 15 Series
According to the leaker, Xiaomi has secured the exclusive debut rights for the Snapdragon 8 Gen4, with the Xiaomi 15 series being the first to feature this chip. The leaker also added that following Xiaomi, OnePlus and iQOO will swiftly follow suit.
A variety of models will be among the first to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen4. Apart from the Xiaomi 15 series, the OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13 will also feature this chip. The Samsung Galaxy S25 series, on the other hand, will utilize a “for Galaxy” version with a higher clock speed, but this will be available only in select markets. To start with, all Galaxy S25 Ultra devices in the global market will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 chip, and the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ sold in the US and China will also follow suit. In contrast, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ released in other markets will be equipped with the Exynos 2500 processor, which is set to debut in October as well.
Qualcomm has confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 will be launched in October, and this chip will no longer use ARM’s Cortex public core, but will instead adopt the self-developed Oryon core. In terms of CPU architecture, Qualcomm might also abandon the small core and switch to a 2+6 architecture, utilizing 2 high-frequency large cores and 6 big cores.
Additionally, according to reports, the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 will be produced using a 3nm process, which is more advanced compared to the 4nm process used in the Snapdragon 8 Gen3, offering advantages in both performance and power consumption. The maximum frequency of the large core can reach 4.3GHz, far exceeding the 3.3GHz of the Snapdragon 8 Gen3, resulting in a significant increase in single-core performance. The single-core score of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with the high-frequency version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 can reach 2200 points, and the single-core score of the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 might even reach 3500 points.
