The Apple Fans’ Hub: Your Apple Experts for 10 Years!

At the beginning of today, Apple officially announced the dates for this year’s WWDC 2024 developer conference. It will be held online from June 11th to 15th, Beijing time.

Apple WWDC 2024 Announcement

Apple mentioned that developers and students will have the opportunity to participate in offline special events at Apple Park on the opening day of the conference. WWDC24 is open to all developers for free and will focus on introducing the latest major updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS.

The upcoming new systems for this year include: iOS/iPadOS 18, visionOS 2, tvOS 18, watchOS 11, and macOS 15 systems.

For most Apple fans, the most anticipated update is the new iOS system. There have already been several leaks online regarding the new features of the iOS 18 system, such as:

iOS 18 New Features

  • iOS 18 will introduce a “Custom Home Screen” feature, allowing users to arrange app icons more freely on iOS 18.
  • The intelligent voice assistant Siri will receive AI enhancements to provide users with smarter and more personalized services.
  • Apple ID will be renamed to the new “Apple Account” name.
  • Providing hearing aid mode for AirPods Pro models.
  • Introducing RCS support for iMessages.

More iOS 18 Updates

Moreover, the iOS 18 system may only support iPhone 11 and newer models for the upgrade. This also means that some older iPhone models, including iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone XR, and iPhone XS series, will not be able to upgrade to the latest iOS 18 system.

The above information is based on online leaks and should be taken as reference only. The specific new features that iOS 18 will bring will have to wait for Apple’s official announcement.

Once the WWDC conference opening ceremony is concluded, Apple typically releases the first test update of iOS 18 to developers. Users who have already enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program can easily try out the iOS 18 system by opening Settings > General > Software Update.

iOS 18 Beta Testing

For those who are not enrolled, don’t worry. The Apple Fans’ Hub will also provide a detailed registration guide at that time.

As for the official release of iOS 18, it won’t happen so soon. It usually comes around the mid to late September along with the release of the iPhone 16 series.
